Some Crate amplifiers we have repaired

Crate amplifiers obtained their name after the first amps built back in the 80’s were built into wooden cases and ‘crated’.  Gene Kornblum had historically along with his father been in the industry for importing stringed instruments which arrived in Crates.  The idea was to build an amplifier into a wooden crate to protect it and make it look rugged.  Interestingly their amplifiers despite being introduced in the 80’s were mainly solid stage using transistors and not a sniff of Valve.  Later on the bespoke design took them to valve amplifiers for sound.

Crate amplifiers are reliable and workhorses however we’ve the ability to repair them when they break down.  Most repairs are generally from wear and tear and easily repaired.
